God wants the best for us!

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens‘ (Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV)

There are many times or seasons that occur throughout our lives; different things happen within our lives, some things that happen are easy times, others are much tougher. Sometimes things are easy in our lives, other times it seem as though we are going through stormy waters; we need to remember that when we go through the stormy waters, God allows us to go this way, because our enemies cannot swim; at other times, we are purified through trials, ‘God, tested us… refined us like silver‘ (Psalm 66:10 NIV). At other times, God lets the storm rage around us, and fill us with his peace, keeping us safe in the calamity around us.

Enemies cannot swim

The Bible tells us that there is a time for everything, ‘a time to be born and a time to die‘ (Ecclesiastes 3:2 NIV). Whatever happens in our life, we need to remember to have wisdom when we are looking at what we are going to do; there is, ‘a time to search and a time to give up‘ (Ecclesiastes 3:6 NIV).

When we are looking for something, or making decisions in our life, we need to have some solid, positive guidance.

God will give us this, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life‘ (Psalm 32:8 NLT). The Psalmist knew God intimately, ‘You make known to me the path of life‘ (Psalm 16:11 NIV). We know that God will guide us, because he wants the best for us, ‘For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD‘ (Jeremiah 21:11 NLT); not only does he have a plan for us, the plan is a good one, ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster‘ (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT). The plan for us is a good one, and it is for our benefit, the advantage for us is that it will, ‘give you a future and a hope‘ (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT).

If we trust our God, he will be there for us, always, ‘I will never fail you, I will never abandon you‘ (Hebrews 13:5 NLT).

When we are looking at making big decisions in our life, life changing decision, we need to seek God’s guidance.

Are we looking at marriage? Have spoken to God about the relationship and the person we are with? Are we wanting to change jobs, and have we asked for guidance about the company where we want to go?

Do we want to  buy a new vehicle, moving house, invest heavily in shares, do we feel that we want to go to another church etc. God will guide us in all situations if we turn to him, and ask.

The Bible is a book that can teach us many things. The words within are God inspired; there is much wisdom to be found within its’ pages.

Jesus said to his disciples that, ‘my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name‘ (John 1623 NIV).

If we ask, what will happen?

Ask using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy‘ (John 16:24 NLT).

So if we ask, then God will come along-side of us and guide us. He will guide our lives and our decisions, and because of this, our life will be full of joy.

We know that he will never leave us, and will always be there for us, (Hebrews 13:5).

We know that he has a plan for all of our lives (Jeremiah 29:11).

We know that he will guide us through that plan (Psalm 16:11 & 32:8).

All we have to do to get that is trust God, and ask in his name (John 16:24).

Are you prepared to put your trust in the Creator of all you see?

Calms the storm or the child

Guide me, O thou great redeemer,
Pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but thou art mighty,
Hold me with thy powerful hand;
Bread of heaven, bread of heaven
Feed me till I want no more;
Feed me till I want no more.

Open now the crystal fountain
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through:
Strong deliverer, strong deliverer;
Be thou still my strength and shield;
Be thou still my strength and shield.

When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of death, and hell’s destruction
Land me safe on Canaan’s side:
Songs of praises, songs of praises,
I will ever give to thee;
I will ever give to thee.

Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer Hymn

William Williams (1719-1791) (tr Peter Williams 1771)

Father God, we are thankful that we can turn to you for help and guidance any time. We know that you have a plan for our life that will be good for us, as long as we follow your teaching in the Bible. Helps us to always follow you and know that whatever you have for us, it will be for our benefit, and will give us a hope and a future in you.
Lord we pray for all the people who hurt in the world. We pray that you will surround them with people that care, and will pray for them, support them, and guide them through their troubles. We know that you will be with them, help them to feel your peace in their lives, and to know that you are with them.
