Jesus be my everything!

as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD‘ (Joshua 24:15 NLT).

It is not always easy to be a Christian and follow God. When Moses died, (Deuteronomy 34:5) Joshua was given the mantle as leader of the Hebrews, (Joshua 1:1-2). He did not naturally find leading the Israelites an easy thing, but God bolstered his confidence and said to him;

Be strong and courageous‘ (Joshua 1:6 & 9 NIV). He added to that once by saying, ‘be strong and very courageous‘ (Joshua 1:7 ESV).

To live a God centred life, we need to be brave, for the world is greedy and materialistic, and many in it are money orientated, that is why Paul told the Roman Christians;

do not be conformed to this world‘ (Romans 12:1 NKJV)

When Jesus is at the centre of our life, he is our everything, and we can say with full confidence;

Christ in me the hope of glory, You are everything

(Everything – sung by Tim Hughes – written by C. F. Czajkoska / K. Hughes).

To be a true follower of the one and only Christ, we have to decide to be ‘all-in‘. Our life has to exude Christ. Others around us need to see that we have something that they want. We need to be beacons of light in an otherwise dark world.

We need to push the darkness away from us, so that we can see Jesus in the world and focus on him. In the darkness we can feel oppressed, or under attack from the devil, but we need to look at the situation from a different perspective.

In the darkness we are not alone, let us remember what it says in the Bible, and what Paul reminded the Hebrew Christians, that God had said;

I will never leave you nor forsake you‘ (Hebrews 13:5 ESV).

We can be confident in the fact that God is never out of our life. Why would he leave us? He loves us far too much for that. He sent his Son just for us, (John 3:16) even though we were sinners;

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us‘ (Romans 5:8 NIV).

We know that we are sinners, for there has only been one person who has ever been perfect in this world, and they crucified him for that. Crucified for you and for me;

for  all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God‘ (Romans 3:23 NIV).

Push back the darkness of your past, and focus on the one thing in this world that can save us. Jesus.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation‘ (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV).

When we turn to Jesus, we have to be honest and true in all we do. We have to be forthright. We have to righteous;

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God‘ (2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV).

We are not righteous in our own right, but only through and by the amazing, never-ending grace of Christ our Saviour and Redeemer;

not having a righteousness of my own… … … but that which is through faith in Christ – the righteousness that comes from God‘ (Philippians 3:9 NIV). How do we get this righteousness that we so need you may ask, and the answer is surprisingly simple, ‘on the basis of faith‘ (Philippians 3:9 NIV).

If we have faith, then we have the righteousness of God within us, through the amazing, eternal, almighty, awesome redeeming power of Jesus Christ.

He may not have been speaking about God, but Ed Sheeran wrote the words, ‘All that you are is all that I’ll ever need.

What would change, if we inserted a short, but powerful 5 lettered word at the beginning of the line? It could and would change everything. Are you willing to change your perspective, and place Jesus where he should be, at the centre of your life?

Are you willing to be ‘all-in‘ for Jesus?

Are you willing to say;

Jesus, all that you are is all that I’ll ever need

All we have to do to be ‘all-in‘ for Christ, is listen for his voice, and respond to it; we too can have the light of God living within us, helping us to live a Jesus centred life.

Listen! I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into his house‘ (Revelations 3:20 GNB – emphasis mine).

Respond, and be all-in for Jesus.

As for our family - we will serve the LORD

Jesus, at the centre of it all
Jesus, at the centre of it all
From beginning to the end
It will always be, it’s always been you, Jesus

Nothing else matters,
Nothing in this world will do
Jesus, you’re the centre,
Everything revolves around you
At the centre of it all
The centre of it all

Jesus, be the centre of my life
Jesus, be the centre of my life
From beginning to the end
It will always be, it’s always been you, Jesus

From my heart to the heavens
Jesus, be the centre
It’s all about you
Yes, it’s all about you

Jesus, be the centre of your Church
Jesus, be the centre of your Church
And every knee will bow
And every tongue shall confess you, Jesus

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

Jesus, at the centre of it all

downloadFather we thank you that you sent your Son, Jesus to die for us. We know we do not deserve your grace and forgiveness, but we are grateful for saving us and giving us hope. We want to live for you, to have you at the centre of our lives daily. Help us focus and to live for you, and to show others around us how much better a life centred around you is.
Lord we thank you for the gifts that you give us. We know that all things come fro you, but help us to use our gifts to help further your kingdom and bring people into the knowledge of your amazing grace.
